My Greylie 19 1/2 with kidney failure has practically no appetite anymore. I think that his time is coming very soon and maybe I just tae him to the vet next week so he can re-unite with his sister at the rainbow.... they were never very close and I just see her saying... what are you doing here....
My son is coming for Thanksgiving and I know he wants to see him. I love my Greylie so much and it breaks my heart but I don't want him to suffer either but it is so hard to make a decision. I want to do right by him.

Another idea is to take him to the vet and see if he can get any better,,,

How is Greylie action? Is he still acting like a cat?
How bad are his blood values?
I have been syringe feeding My Patches for a few years now. She seldom eats by herself and blood work does not find any problems.

Greylie is in kisney failure, has high blood pressure and hyperthyroid. He gets meds daily for the pressure and thyroid. Fortunately he has been diet conrolled for diabetes and when we had a check up this summer the vet called him Moses and said he had put on weight and was very happyt with him.... but time goes by I guess being 10 1/2 is a good age.

He still acts like a cat.. does not go in the corner like his sister did when she did not feel well. gets up but did not ask to go out like he normally does. He also behaved like he does every day... cry until sombody comes and at night waits till I come and put him in his bed. He has arthritis too.

Clearly things are catching up with him now... and it may be best for him to let him go,.... sooo hard for him... I chose him from a litter of five and he is the sweetest cat. I know I can't hold on to him forever....

I know... It will be soon and I have to let him go... and be grateful for the time we had together.... he can join his many many long time friends at the Rainwow .. Houdini.... Thom.... and so many many more that have gone on before him.

My best wishes for you and your Greylie.

When my last kidney girl would go off of her food, we found that B12 and potassium supplements would give her a huge pick-me-up. She did reach that day where she just would not eat a thing, not even a treat, and we knew that was not our little Sophia anymore and she crossed the bridge in May. But if you haven't tried the B12 shots or checked the potassium levels, those may be areas that can give Greylie some more quality time.

Hugs to you a Greylie for a peaceful Thanksgiving time.
