As some of you may know she has been losing weight the past few months, with her mild IBD for years having apparently flared up into severe IBD of late. We've tried a number of meds this fall/winter but she hasn't responded much. I finally took her in to the specialist yesterday and they confirmed what I suspected - looks like intestinal cancer. I'm not pursuing aggressive treatments for a variety of reasons, but am hoping with the meds they sent me home with we can keep her content for a few weeks/months. The prognosis they gave me if I opted for surgery and aggressive chemo is one year, so my expectations are pretty low at the moment, but hey, you never know. If the meds she is on now work well, they could keep the cancer from spreading quickly I guess.

She's really been doing surprisingly well these last few months, all things considered, until the last few days when she seems to have mostly stopped eating. It's the first she's really seemed sickly to me. She had a few bites for lunch today, so I am hoping that's the meds taking effect and things will improve from here (though she doesn't want any dinner, darn it).

If anyone remembers, she is my civie who looks like Sarah's Buzz's twin sister.

Sending good wishes to everyone - I don't have the energy to keep up with everyone's posts right now, but I hope everyone is doing ok!

Oh Johanna, this just isn't fair, just after you lost Bix. I am so incredibly sorry to hear this news. I hope she will eat for you and the two of you will be able to have some good, loving times together.

Keeping you and your sweet kitty in my heart.

I'm sorry to hear about your Pippa. Its so soon after you lost Bix.
I hope she will get back some appetite and you will have more good days ahead with her.
Keeping you and Pippa in my thoughts and prayers

So very sorry to hear about your sweet Pippa, especially so soon after Bix. Just not fair! Sending u hugs. You and Pippa are in my thoughts for prayers.

Thank you all so much for your support and good wishes. I really appreciate it! Thankfully she seems to be eating a little better now, so I am hopeful the meds are working well and she will do ok for a little while at least.

Joanna, I'm sending tons of prayers for you and your baby, and will be keeping you both in my thoughts. Hang in there. I am hoping that the meds will work for Pippa. *HUGS*

I just saw your post, Joanna. I am so sorry to hear about Pippa's diagnosis, but it sounds like you are doing all of the right things. I hope she is eating and feeling better with the meds on board. And I hope you will have lots more quality time with her. Sending healing prayers and energies for Pippa and big (((HUGS))) to you. :YMHUG:

Oh Joanna----I just saw your post and I am so sorry. (((((Joanna))))). It just stinks. I am sure you are making difficult but wise decisions. I know how hard it was for me when I didn't have Squamee tested with CAT scans and xrays, etc for cancer or a brain tumor. I hope the meds give you some good time together. Keep us posted whenever you can. I will be thinking about you.

(((Joanna))) I'm so sorry to hear about Pippa. I know that you will make her happy and comfortable for the rest of her life, regardless of how long that is.

Thank you for the good wishes everyone, I really appreciate it! Thankfully she is really doing a lot better - no more barfing, poop is like a normal cat's, and she's put a little weight back on now, so looks closer to a healthy kitty - and no signs of nausea so that is really good. I am really encouraged.

I'm not sure if I mentioned, but I decided against u/s and scoping at the appt due to cost and likelihood of no definitive answers, however, the vet uses u/s I guess to get a urine sample (which I requested), so while she was there she "took a little peek" ;-) Nice vet cat_pet_icon. (Judy I know what you mean, it feels awful to opt out of more tests, just leaves you feeling helpless.) That's when she saw a section of her intestines that looked cancer-wonky. So although it's not extensive diagnostics, it's enough to at least put my mind at ease that there's no real need for further tests, we have enough of an answer that I can stop wondering/debating more tests, etc. Sad, but a relief in its way, especially since she is responding so well to the meds now.
