Hello,
I'm a newbie and I need help! My cat Pixie is 7yrs old 10lbs. The Dr. put her on Royal Canin feline glycobalance . She said to give her 5/8 cup per day, but I give her 1cup per day and she still cries. She is now trying to eat the dog food cause she is still hungry. She was eating dry food before, now I've switched to all wet. She's going in for testing this weekend to see if the food has helped her glucose levels. Then we can see what the next step is and if insulin is in her future.

Welcome
When diabetes is not well controlled the body does not process food well and more food is necessary to maintain weight.
How is Pixie's weight doing?

A low-carb canned is best. No reason for a prescription food, especially a dry food. Here is a list of commercial low-carb canned

Most of us here test our cat's blood glucose at home using a human meter. We test before each shot and periodically between shots. We record our reading and other info in a spreadsheet. See:

I adopted my Bun Bun this February as an untreated diabetic who was turned into a shelter. He is always hungry and lets me know it especially when preparing his food by him biting my calves.
His BG is well conroled with lantus, I can keep his BG below 110 al day. If I feed him more he gains weight.
