Just wondering if anyone's cat has made a clicking sound when eating or knows what that might be? I will call the vet if they are in on Saturday, but was wondering if it is something with teeth. The vet looked at Lovey's teeth during last visit about a month or 6 weeks ago. She did notice that some of her back teeth were receding and she could use a cleaning. Lovey is eating fine.

Sometimes my DH's jaw goes "out" and clicks when he eats. Maybe Lovey has something similar. Is it all the time, or only occasionally?

Have a great weekend,

Ella & Rusty

Thank you for your input. It has been only lately for a few seconds while she is eating and then stops.

Is that clicking came when Lovely is eating with her back teeth? That is when she's eating with her head a bit twisted to one side? If so, should be the back tooth causing. Not serious but need to fix up a dental.

not sure what might cause the clicking, but if Lovey needs a dental, that can keep a cat from going into remission. strange how it works, but it can be a problem. just something to consider. getting the teeth fixed isn't a guarantee that she'll go off, but it can improve her health.

eta, when you say her teeth are "receding" i'm thinking she might be having resorptive lesions. not sure if i have that spelled right, but it's when the gum tissue is absorbing the teeth. it's kinda a big deal and usually the teeth are pulled.

Hi Julie, thank you for responding to my post. I appreciate your time and input.

my new vet pointed out two of her back teeth to me. I think she said the teeth were receding? I am not sure.
I know in humans and cats how dental disease can be linked to illness so I know it is important.

I am going to learn a little bit more about the dental procedure, which abs are Ok, etc. and will schedule a cleaning for Lovey in the near future. I am just calming down and getting comfortable dealing with FD so I am almost ready for this...I am nervous.

I would like to go to a specialist really. I like my new vet; she is flexible in the 30's, but the

the only procedure she has done on Lovey so far is a urine culture so I am a little uneasy.

Are their specialists? One place that I know of that has specialists requires referrals from vet that proves they could not service the patient. I have two weeks off for the holidays so I am going to do some reading of dental threads here and get some more info. from my vet.
