For the past two nights my cat was around 100 on the urine strip. Tonight he had no glucose and no ketones. What does this mean? I already gave him his night shot of Lantus at 11pm.

Hi Happycats,

No ketones is always good! YAY!

Please forgive me, but I'm not familiar with what 100 on the urine strip means. What kind of urine strip are you using?

Could you tell us what dose of Lantus you gave him? And, what he eats. And, your general location, in case you need someone to teach you how to hometest? I'm in northern NJ if that helps...

Hugs,
Deb and Nikki -- and Giz, forever whispering in my heart...

100 (mg/dl) is the lowest urine glucose level shown on Bayer glucose urine strips. The strip readings are:
negative, 100, 250, 500. 1000 and 2000 mg/dl or more. The mg/dl urine value are not directly comparable with blood glucose levels.

What were the strip reading before? How much Lantus are you giving? A dose reduction might be in order if the urine value has been decreasing. You always want glucose in the urine when not monitoring blood glucose since if it shows no glucose in urine the BG might be too ow to give insulin.
