Hi, I am the proud Mommy of Murphy. I adopted Murphy when he was 5 weeks old after finding him in my yard. Murphy is now 14 1/2 years old. I call him my "Angel Sent From Heaven". Murphy was diagnosed with Diabetes 3 1/2 years ago. He went into remission once but the Diabetes resurfaced after 8 months. I had gotten a list of Fancy Feast Can Food from your website when he was first diagnosed that were suitable for diabetic kitties. The list consisted of all "Classic" Fancy Feast varieties. I was wondering if any of the newer varieties are suitable for diabetic kitties? I'd love to be able to give Murphy more of a variety. Also, are there any cat treats that are suitable? He really misses his treats and dry food! One more question, if I may, I am currently paying $208.00 for a vial of his Lantus. Does anyone know of any Pharmacies that have lower prices and/or if there are any ways to get coupons or discounts? Thanks so much! Teresa and Murphy

There is a terrific food chart at Cat Info. Its in the right hand column about 5 down.

DCIN (Diabetic Cats in Need) website talks about ways to get Lantus less expensively.

We recommend getting the pens and using them like small vials. You are more likely to use all of the pen contents before the insulin becomes less effective.

The price has gone up significantly in the US. Your best bet may be to order from a Canadian pharmacy.

Hi Teresa and sugardude Murphy and welcome to the message board. Sure do hope you can find some other foods to tempt Murphy.

List of Low carb healthy treats

Basically, anything that is pure protein makes a good treat for a diabetic cat. I feed mine Pure Bites freeze dried chicken ( ( buy the larger dog size bag and break up the pieces into small bites) , Whole Life freeze dried liver, Halo Liv-a-Little freeze dried chicken, bits of cooked chicken or beef, small bites of cheese, ham on occasion but it's kind of salty.
