Well for the first time while Musette's numbers were higher than they have been in awhile, we had no up and down bouncing, except for a small food spike at +6

The tale of the tape for today: on .25u

AMPS: 457
+3 = 405
+6 = 432 food spike as she got fed late at +5 instead of her normal +4
+10 = 381
pmps 431 this was 1/2 hour late since Lady Jane Grey decided to pull everything out of the drawer and sting it through the bedroom.
Planning on getting a +3 on her tonight right before bed.

Now to see how she does in the morning. But while higher numbers than usual this is a much smoother pattern.
Don't think I've found her magic dose yet, but definitely closer than I was by going up, and I did expect her to run a little high at first.

She's still riding the rebound actually. Not sure on Lantus' power to combat them. Should be about the same as Lev. so she may ride 300s tomorrow still.

I see at +3 she's already coming down. That's a good sign! 120 pts down on .25U is significant.

How do you plan to handle food spikes? Any possibility of feeding small meals more often?

Yeah, you have to give the rebound hormones a chance to fade. Probably another few days for that to clear and the dose to settle - then you reassess. Make sure you are testing for ketones while she is in these higher numbers - I'm sure you know the drill.

Yep checking her for ketones, so far so good, and none present.

Right now my plan is to give her 3 days on the .25 and then see where she goes from there. But I was really pleased with how steady, although higher she was. When you factor in the +/- 20% of all meters her numbers were very stable. And I was delighted to see her drop into the 300s by +3 last night.

As far as meals goes, normally she gets 4 small meals a day, but yesterday was a rarity as we had some errands to run before the start of the work week, so things got a little off schedule. Normally the way thing run is I test at amps & feed. test at +4 feed, test at +6, feed at +8, test at +10, then test again at pmps then feed the last time at about +2- +3 and give her the last meal of the day.

Yep that is what I give them right before I go to bed at night. We usually go to bed about 10pm and are back up by 5:30am so they get a big bowl of food for the overnight hours, but usually both Musette and Maxwell, sleep pretty much through the night with us. Now the civies are up and prowling all night but the two seniors seem to be happy to go to bed when we do, which is why they have the benefit of getting to share the bedroom at night..lol. They sleep at night. Usually they have touched very little of the overnight food other than what they have eaten right before we go to bed. Usually Maxwell and Now Musette's routine is to get up in the morning with us and finish off their bedtime snack first thing in the morning while Jon is getting ready for work and I'm getting the rest of the household running, human breakfast, drooler's breakfast and potty break. (have to go out with him now that someone or something put a dime sized hole in the top of his head), litter boxes cleaned, etc. By then it is time to shove Jon out the door for work, test and shoot Musette, feed the furry gang breakfast and try to get a couple of hours of studying in.

Well, she has had two full days on .25u, so I would think at least another day to see what this dose can do (and can't do). 3 days is the minimum amount of settle time. We usually say 3-5 days, but some cats take longer to settle. Let's see how she does tomorrow.
