Having a normal day had insluline 3 units at 10:30 am and snack at 5:00 pm and now all of a sudden she is starting to have muscle spasams which I have never seen before. Can't test her gulcose cause she got upset with me yesterday and bit practcatly through my hand. Won't let me near her for testing. Is it possible and probable that the spasams are dabetic related and if so anything I can do to help her at this point. 8:16 pm. Really worried about her.

I agree with Wendy. If you can't test her and she is doing something she doesn't normally do, I would not take any chances. I'd get to the ER. Better to spend a few dollars and know she is ok.

The only other thing I can tell you is try and burrito her in a towel to get a test but I would NOT spend alot of time on that. If you can't do it pretty quickly, then get to the ER and I hope it's not far.

she ate the food and the vet said bring her in in the morning for testing she seems to have c almed down now. Thank you for all your input

Ok good. Did she calm down after the food or did she start to calm down before that?

When was the last insulin shot and what kind is it again?

Is she still on Novalin, or were you able to switch?

Oh, please change the candle icon... you probably meant to pick None? Candles are used when kitty has passed, and people will assume the worst...

I'm glad she is ok. I'd be careful about shooting without testing. Of course, not giving insulin when they need it is also dangerous so I encourage you to ask for help here on testing techniques so you can reliably test.

Since she is difficult to test, see my signature link on Secondary Monitoring Tools, especially urine ketone testing. Tracking indirect signs isn't perfect, but it will give you some data to work with.
Food and water consumption, when increased, suggest poor control and when decreased suggest better control, in the absence of any other problems.

I still wonder if it was a hypo although I didn't think novolin lasted that long. I wouldn't give up on home testing yet either, she may just have been difficult cos she wasn't well. If it was a hypo I don't know if the vet will see any signs tomorrow.

What ones everyone else think?
