Hello....my diabetic furbaby is losing muscle mass after 3 years of being off the juice. He is otherwise very healthy any suggestions.

Did you make a vet appointment? I'd want a vet to check that if it were my kitty.

A few things that come to mind regarding muscle loss are hyperthyroidism, low potassium and kidney problems. I'm no expert, these are just some of things I've seen with my seniors who lost muscle.

you've probably already checked his bg's...at dx and then 2.5 years later when tom came out of remission those were the 2 times i notices loss of muscle mass on him.

One flag for losing lean body muscle mass is Renal (kidney issues). The kidney can not filter correctly (including protein in the blood) so the body takes it from the body (thus lean body muscle mass loss). Definitely get to the vet as soon as you are able to get a blood panel done. Humans get dialysis to help filter out their kidneys when the body (kidneys) are not functioning correctly. first get the correct blood work and direction from your vet. If it is renal/kidney disease..there is a webpage: www.felinecrf.org to learn more IF that is what it is.
