I think we all know that diabetic kitties urinate more than "quite frequently," but what happens once they are on insulin. It's 8:20 pm. (PST), and Murphy has only pee'd once today mid-afternoon, and probably really really early morning. Is this to be expected? What is normal for a diabetic kitty that is now on insulin?

She doesn't appear to be dehydrated, but I may want to take her in tomorrow for fluids.

Any thoughts?

Once cats are on the road to and reach regulation, you will no longer think the litter box is going to float away! Their urination becomes "normal" (whatever that may be for each individual cat). So, think back to pre-diabetic Murphy...what was his "pee schedule" like then?

Of course, other things can influence the amount of urine - for instance, when we have one of our very hot summer days, my cats drink more water and, by extension, pee more. When one of my guys gets into the neighbor's hard food, they drink more and pee more. However, unless it appears to you that Murphy isn't eliminating normally, I think the fact he is peeing less is a good sign.

I know she pee's some during the late night, so I will keep an eye out. I did scoop it, and wow, gross as it is, I could smell the sugar!
