Murphy Update - Monday 10/31

Hi all. Thanks for your supportive comments. I came home on Friday -- Murphy has a pretty severe e-coli UTI. Could have been that this started some time while was gone, especially since it had been two months. I understand that nausea is a very prominent side effect of these types of infections. But, I believe, and this is more directed to diabetes, that my pet sitter was taking up her food too soon before she would be done eating and Murphy started starving herself. If she went two months this way, and had lost almost 2 pounds over a 7 day period of time, I hate to think what had happened to her blood glucose. I think it would be smart for me to start at least getting her BG at least twice per day. Can you let me know how you all feel about this?

When I saw the muscle wasting around her spine -- I had a fit. I'd never seen this in her. I'm glad I pushed the facility to send me home early!

What I see right now is some inappetance and the inability to eat an entire meal like the schedule we were on before. But it is certainly better than it was when she came home from the vet's office on Friday. Possibly this is going to take some time as she seemed very traumatized by the months away and possibly the way she had been treated. I hate that this had to happen and that I was away for so long.
