Just an update to all -- it's now been seven days and no insulin for Murphy! She's been poo'g and pee'g just fine, no ravenous appetite and she's doing well. Actually, I could be wrong, but I think she is feeling better now that she isn't needing the insulin. Let's keep our fingers x'd that it continues that way.
I started her on pure acetyl l-carnitine the other day for the myopathy in her paws and her hind legs. It appears to be helping and she is now sleeping soundly on my bed every night, which is something I haven't seen her do for over one year. I think it was just too hard for her to jump onto and down from my bed.
So far, the lack of need for insulin has also taken a bit of a weight off of my shoulders. The Cushing's -- well, that's another story, but Dr. Renee doesn't believe there are any issues w/ her having adrenal tumors at this time. If we can reduce her inhaled meds for the asthma, we have to do this very carefully b/c we don't want to throw her into Addison's.
