Murphy PLI Results

Murphy's PLI was very high -- 7.2. So, just as we figured, she had a severe bout of pancreatitis on Monday morning. She has been running a fever, so we are pushing fluids, fluids, fluids. She has some appetite back tonight, and I came home at lunch to check her BG, etc.

Just wanted to thank you all for your concern. It means so much. She is such a little angel, when I look at her, I feel so horrible she is so sick. Having one life-threatening disease is plenty, but now we have 4 plus the demodex mite. Her nose is turning complete discolored again.

((hug)) While certainly not happy for the news, I am glad that your suspicions were at least confirmed and you therefore are facing the known and know what to do, as opposed to facing the unknown and having uncertainty about how to proceed.

Lisa, your dedication to Miss Murphy is an inspiration. She is so blessed to have you as her bean (though, I suspect that you would say, without doubt or hesitation, that it is you who are blessed. ;-) )

Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much. I've tried and went w/ out for a long, long time, just like I would if I had children. Murphy is no different in that respect. She's a sick little girl, that's for sure. But, w/ the connections at Tufts and Murphy's internist, I truly believe we will come to something that will free her from at least 1/3 of this stuff. W/ the pancreatitis bout, I've hesitated to get her back on the Ivermectin since her little tummy was so ill. And, the mite is festering like crazy now.

I'm just lifting it all up right now.

Pancreatitis is very painful; pain meds, maybe buprenex or something, should also be given along with the fluids.

If it makes you feel any better, my Stinky had a PLI of 31 (no joke) last summer, antibiotics for two weeks seemed to work; then diabetes dx after that. Everything was treated and he is now at 100%; never better. There is hope for Murphy : )

Ditto to what SaraJaye said, not to minimize what poor Murphy is going through but to show you that there are others out there who can trully feel your pain - my Harley is still recovering from a bad bout of pancreatitis, his spec-fPLI was 20 when diagnosed and last Thursday night he had a severe attack - his spec-fPLI was 40 the next day.

SubQfluids, buprenex for pain and an anti-nausea or vomiting drug of some kind are key if your kitty wont eat.

Sending healing vibes and thoughts your way.
