Murphy - Is She Off Honeymoon

Hi all. I have not been around much as I had two surgeries this summer and then fell and fractured both of my ankles at my first day on the job! So, I'm in a skilled rehab facility and I'm not walking yet. I've not been home since the 16th of September, and my pet sitter took Murphy in for just a simple check up to see if all was okay. She has lost almost 2 pounds since 9/15/11, and the demodex has come back a little bit. I'm concerned about the 2 pounds since she has a history of diabetes and iatrogenic cushing's, but the cushing's seems to be resolving and her skin is more taught. This appears to be a considerable amount of weight to lose in one month, don't you agree? The only thing I could imagine is that my pet sitter isn't feeding her the right amount of food. What say you all?

My vet said she looks great, she was running around the exam room, meowing like her cute little self. But, now I'm stuck here and I'm worried about so many other things, and now this.

Ideas?

Loosing two pound in a month is very serious. What did the vet say? Is the BG normal?

My vet called this p.m. and her BG was 89 at around 4:00, so we are good on the BG. She mentioned that she could be just really missing me. I agree, two pounds in one month is quite a bit, but it's also interesting how I fell and went into the hospital on 9/16/11, she had just been at the vet's for a checkup and she was great and the mite was gone. But, from then until today when my pet sitter took her in just for a 4 week check-up, she said she had dropped from 15 # to 13.2 #. They tested her BG and it was 89. I have been giving her acetyl l-carnitine for her hock for her back legs and she is no longer hock -- worked fabulously, but I'm wondering if the pet sitter was giving her the wrong dosage using a metal tsp instead of the plastic cooking tsp I had set out. Otherwise, it could be that she is really missing me a lot. I know pets have a hard time when their owners are away for long periods of time, but I am going home on the 31st, thank goodness. I cannot wait to see them -- you all have no idea. Please pray that nothing is wrong with her. Since she became diabetic, Murphy and I have bonded in a way that I didn't think was possible. I never thought the bond between a pet owner and their pet would go that deep, but she was to the point where I could pick her up and she would lay her head on my shoulder, even if it was for 5 minutes. She's my little baby in a bubble as we call her. Please pray for her.
