Well, last night 3 hours after dinner, Murphy went down to 259. So, hopefully this weekend, I can do a few tests throughout the day to see how low she gets and for how long. We guess that b/c she is hyper-g, she would at least go into the high 100s, which for her would be terrific news. Guess this takes time getting used to. I can tell when it's wearing off because she gets a little ravenous in the morning around 5:00 a.m., still, but we aren't changing anything right now, still 2 unts lantus a.m. and p.m.

I can even see that maybe the hock in her back paws is a little less prominent. But, the d. cati mite and MRSA appears to be coming back on her little nose, which worries me. She cannot get rid of this stuff! Cornell is stil doing research on d. cati and the effects it has on secondary infections and my vet and I are scheduled to consult with their research team next week to figure out why this keeps coming about and the mite lays dormant that rears its ugly head!!!

All in all, she is doing better.

Such a pretty girl. Will be good to see how low she is able to go on this dose. Keep us updated.

We are now talking about changes in the diet, which will be a very very slow process, but I would venture that with the reduction to no higher than 7% carbs, her insulin intake may drop, which would be good. Right now though, the neuropathy appears to be getting worse. Yes, she is a little sweetheart.

Hi...nice to see you today. We have so many kitties posting here so to keep things orderly, we link our previous day's post to our first on of the day. That way, anyone can just click on the link and read what transpired the previous day.
Here is your link to yesterday: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25075http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25075

We post our header with the date, kitty's name and the AMPS shown...so your header would be
9/17 Murphy AMPS=_____

Here is the link for setting up your SS (spreadsheet) Once you get that attached to your signature, we will be happy to help you each day with Murphy's progress... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25075 That link was taken from the Tech Support forum....I hope you will be able to do that soon.

I am so happy to see you and Murphy here today, Lisa!

There has been so much for me to think about, and research for Murphy that I have absolutely no idea about the lingo on here. We're making progress, but this isn't easy as feline asthma is. There are multiple things I need to become aware of, but the critical things are happening right now, and the others will come with time. I may need some help with figuring some of this out. Does anyone live in Southern California that could speak with me?

hi there

I'm nowhere near California
If it's help with setting up a spreadsheet - open a thread in the TECH forum.

Do keep in mind, things like dosing feedback should be kept public, safety first plus you get the added benefit of peer review, especially here in the Lantus forum, where there are quite a few experienced members who have guided us along (my kitty included!)

But either way, Lantus related info is easily given and shared by everyone here.

You can always add your questions to your subject line too, by selecting "edit" in your first post of the day, and updating your subject line.

as an example like this:
09/17/10 Murphy AMPS # Question on dose

Do ask as much as you need to know about Lantus, read the Lantus forum stickies, cross post in the health forum for meds, diet, home testing etc - there's a couple of vet techs who visit the health forum plus Dr Lisa

It's gonna be ok, you are doing well, and Murphy is a very lucky kitty to have you help him along.
