Clearly the dose I gave Murphy was too high for him this am - since 2 units had only gotten him in the yellows the past few days, I thought I needed to bump it up a little higher. 2.25u - he went from 516 amps to 66 in 4 hrs (repeat test 2 minutes later was 77) all on alphatrak
I probably fed him too much - a little canned and Young Again and a few pieces (~5) of Royal Canin glycobalance - he's fine - grooming himself now - I'll obviously recheck him in a little while
but ? I was wondering with whether his low yellows at +4 the past two nights meant he'd dip into blues later and would bounce Do you think his high amps's were bounces from that? what would you suggest for his pm dose?
 
Shoot, Carol. (Pun intended) I would have done exactly the same thing. An increase of 0.25 should have been fine. All I can think of is that the hairball played a part in the numbers. Let's see what tonight looks like.
 
Geez Murphy...what are you trying to do? His yellows have been looking really good and I, like Sue, would have done the same thing. It sure doesn't seem like he would have gone much lower last night in order to produce a bounce.
 
well, at +7, he is up to 218 - hope it is not the beginning of a big bounce any suggestions on a dose for tonight (2 or below?) I'll probaby shoot around 6:30 eastern time
 
I'm sorry, Murphy, this makes no sense. 2 units has had you in normal numbers, even a little high for 3 cycles. Why did you drop so low so early? ( wouldn't it be lovely if they could talk?) Since it's night and you'd probably like to sleep, Carol, I think I'd do 2units. Then tomorrow, assuming you can monitor, try either 2.25 or a fat 2 and see if he responds more like we think he would?
 
I'm certainly not experienced enough to give dosing advice but I can definitely commiserate. Occasionally out of the blue, Ben will have big drops on a normally benign dose. I'm slowly learning not to overreact which in the past lead to huge reductions which then led to huge jumps in blood sugars. Silly kitties sure like to keep us on our toes.
