Murphy is of course, hyperthyroid, and is being treated for that. Now, she has went from 13.6 pounds to almost 15 in about one month's time. But, when I check her BG, it's always high, her last fructosamine 2 weeks ago was 296~!!! Vet says not to worry until over 300, well this is what got her in trouble in the first place by not recognizing that this was the high side of normal. So, her BG on her labs this week was 268, which is almost unheard of for her (since she was in diabetes). This is very problematic for me b/c I don't know what is supposed to be treated. I have to stave off the diabetes thing, have to. I hope you all would agree.
I found a few diets out there that were interesting, one of which was Nature's Instinct (chicken or lamb). The protein is about the same, probably same quality, but the phosphorus is actually lower, although I do not know how to convert the dry v. wet matter. To me, this would also be a good diet, but maybe the protein isn't as good of a source of protein.
Murphy isn't showing signs of excessive peeing, or drinking, and she is getting sub-q's every other day. But what I am dealing with now, is a kitty who is extremely hungry and is waking me up at all hours of the night for feedings. Problematic, you bet. Can it continue -- OMG no!!! I'm exhausted like being home with newborns! If I were to leave food out all day, she would eat all day.
Please, someone aid in assisting me with advice. I'm at a loss. This CRF is far more complicated than the diabetes thing. One thing the vet did say that her potassium was a little higher than normal (I haven't gotten the labs to review them on paper). I believe it was .1 over the high normal.
Lisa and Murphy (Oscie is being a little poophead - now that we've started this whole fluids thing over -- he's acting out big time. Pooped on two different rugs twice in one day!)
