Murphy has had a horrible couple of days if any of you had been on the main board. Severe choking the other night, couldn't figure out if this was pancreatitis, or not. We started her on L-Lysine, and starting this a.m., she almost seemed like a different little kitty. She has more energy and her BGs are great. I slacked a little yesterday on her numbers, because she had a little fever and has a little URI (mostly nasal congestion). We can't really add anything else to the mix right now, and L-Lysine is the safest thing right now for her. The Lysine is supposed to help with rapid breathing as well.

I'm happy with her numbers though.

I'm sorry to hear about Murphy's asthma attack and very glad things are getting back to normal.

I'm not sure what brand of L-lysine you're using. Make sure to read the label carefully. Several brands do contain additives. This is a brand of L-lysine that is without any additives. They also stock it in a loose form (not packaged in capsules).

Oh, this was not an asthma attack. Murphy was having stomach acid problems from the pancreatitis, which I understand was sort of like GERD in humans, ultimate causing her to choke and the fluids were in her throat, she kept trying to swallow and ended up choking on them. I was horrified. I did not sit down that night until almost 11:00 p.m., and even the next a.m., she was still having issues. The L-Lysine I purchased from my vet, and you can only get at the vet's office. Not prescription, but one of the best and she wouldn't give me something with things that are harmful because my little girl is so fragile right now.

She's doing better.
