Hello all!
We were on vacation all week. Got home last night. Moxie had a girl come in 2x a day to give her the insulin (3u). And to feed her. My mom came down every afternoon to check on the cats, house, mail, etc... Well, mom texted me on Wed and sd she thinks Moxie is peeing on kitchen floor. She was bc as soon as we walked in the door last eve, our house smelled very strong of cat urine. My mom, even cleaned the kitchen floor every day. I put a litter box in the kitchen and she used it last night and this morning. We went grocery shopping and came home to a huge puddle that my husband and daughter stepped in. My husband is at his wits end. He wants to put her outside or get her put down on Monday. I am so beside myself. He doesn't care if it is medical related, he thinks she will continue to go on the floor bc the scent is there. I took her bg at +8 and it was 405. Since she has been on 3u all week, should I take her up to 3.25?

If this is something new I would bring her in and have her checked for a uti.... unregulated diabetics are particularly prone to them! You do need to get every bit of the smell up though... my favorite cleaner is anti icky poo unscented. https://www.amazon.com/s/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20
To threaten to kill a cat for peeing a few times while sick is RIDICULOUS. hopefully he was just speaking out of frustration and didn't mean it. I mean stepping in pee does really suck. lol If you can't get her to the vet tonight then I would confine her to a small room like a bathroom with a litter box until you get to the root of the problem.

I would try 3.5 If it IS a uti, it raises the bg... if she gets on an antibiotic test carefully because the bg would drop suddenly when the infection (if that's what it is) clears. Or it could just be that she's uncomfortable from the high numbers, and upset her family was away.

She was peeing in our bathroom before she was DX. I took her to the vet thinking it was a uti. That is when she was DX w diabetes. Add the excessive drinking and the extra volume of urine, it makes sense. Her vet sd the same thing... when she is uncomfy she will pee on the floor. We had to redo the bathroom floor and put a gate up, so the only thing she has access to are the litter boxes. She was fine going in the boxes until this week while we were away. She was also just at the vet 9 days ago and was put on abx for an upper respiratory infection.
My husband doesn't care why she pees on the floor. I try explaining to him that she is sick. He responds by saying it doesn't matter. We have spent a fortune on her and all the stuff she ruined bc she peed in our bathroom and now our kitchen. So frustrating!
I'm calling the vet on Monday to see what to do about her low thyroid. I guess he will retest. And go from there. I will also give 3.5u tonight.

Putting her to sleep is a permanent solution to what is most likely a temporary problem. Worse case please rehome rather then putting her down... she's not old at 10. the DCIN may be able to help with that.

Lets work on getting that bg down though. For ongoing help with dosing you can post on the Prozinc forum .

I agree. He get so frustrated bc of all the money we have spent on her and so far, it's not working. I think the next step will be a dental cleaning. Hopefully that will help to bring her numbers down a bit.
