It is with a heavy heart that I write that My Sweet Baby Mowgli crossed the rainbow bridge Monday morning November, 26,2012.
He was a mere 12 years 8months old.

Diabetes, was something I think that made our bond even stronger than it was before.. Who would have thought when he first got Diabetes that he would learn, that when I shake the strip container it was time to go to his pokey spot so that we could test his BG. And then once his BG was done he could trot down the hall and get his chicken treat! :smile: And having this forum made everything that much easier with helping him to the falls... When he was first DX with FD I was scared and worried but the Lantus family stepped up and showed me how "easy" it could be to live with Diabetes.

Mowgli was just shy of his two year OTJ anniversary and he was doing so well and we were food regulating perfectly. Unfortunately cancer was not something we could conquer.. His cancer DX gave him 2 months, well he showed them 2months and 16 days! He was such a strong kitty! But OSCC of the tongue was something that we just couldn't beat...

I miss my sweet beautiful boy, even with my other two kitties and my pug in the house, the house feels empty... He was my baby, my gently giant, my jet engine purr kitty, my big kahunna my fuzzy baby blanket, my on the button alarm clock...He was the first to welcome Yogi my pug with open paws this summer, they became buddies and cuddled together and cleaned the floor together this after never before having a dog in the house..
If I was ever sad, or stressed or in need of comfort Mowgli was there to comfort me. I held him in my arms at home while the procedure was done, and when the purr stopped, i feel like so much stopped. I hope that I was there to comfort him when it was time for him to go... I know it is for the best, he is happy and healthy on the otherside...~sigh~ the hardest gift to give...

I suspect he is hanging out with Rocket (claudias boy) as we made sure they knew about each other saw pictures of each other and Claudia was sweet enough to ask Rocket to wait for Mowgli and introduce him to some of our other GA kitties....

I know we haven't been around much the last couple years, and I am sorry to all those that have had their kitties GA.... I just wanted to post for some of those that knew of Mowgli and me, and for the newbies to know that Diabetes, isn't that scary and can create a close bond....
I have attached some pics of my boy... And the video that CD was kind enough to do when Mowgli went to the falls...I especially love the part that says "i'll be your angel" cause he is....

Oh, Keri -

I am sooo sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. It's clear that he was well-loved and fortunate to have you. I pray that your sweet memories will bring you comfort in the days and nights to come.

You know how I feel....I know how close you two were and it was hard to let him go....I know exactly what you were going thru when you did....for not too long ago as you know I had to do the same thing for Rocket.....and i want to thank you for keeping in touch with me though you too were dealing with so much at the time.....

a friend of mine shared this with me 3 weeks after Rocket passed and I want to share this with you if I may:

I'm so very very sorry Mowgli is now an angel, but like you said....Rocket knew all too well to look for him when the time came and I'm sure Rocket did not disappoint me or Mowgli....he knows lots of kitties who went before and after him...and he will make sure Mowgli is not alone...be certain of that....

Fly Free Sweet Mowgli wings_cat though your mom's arms maybe so very very empty without you....she knows you are ok and one day you two will be reunited......for now....make lots of friends.....
 
Oh Keri, I'm so very very sorry for your loss. You are right, it is the most difficult gift to give, but you unselfishly took on his pain as your own. What a sweet and beautiful boy he was, and you were lucky to have each other. No doubt Rocket has made him feel welcome at the Bridge, and he is once again healthy. I hope he visits you often, and that you continue to take comfort in the fact that he is happy and free.

Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers during this sad time. Fly free and land softly, sweet Mowgli.
 
Very sorry for you loss, Keri - Mowgli looks so beautiful in your photos.

As a newbie, I'd like to say thank you for mentioning the close bond that diabetes can bring - I hope my Honey and I get to share something like the loving bond you and Mowgli so obviously had.

I so sorry for your loss of Mowgli. The you tube video is a great tribute to his life. He was a awesome looking fellow.

(((Keri))), I am so sorry for the loss of your precious, beautiful boy. Yes, the bond we share with our babies seems to get even stronger when we have to go through something like diabetes. I laughed when I read about how Mowgli would come running when you shook the strip container. My cat, Simon does the same thing and I suspect lots of other kitties here do to.

Claudia kept me updated all along about how your sweet boy was doing. It is so wonderful to think that Rocket was there to greet him and take him to his forever home. Know that you will see him one day.

I am so sorry that you have lost your sweet, beloved Mowgli. I am grateful that you have had Claudia to support you during this difficult time. I know that Rocket is taking good care of Mowgli at the Bridge, and that they have both been welcomed by our GA brigade.

I have just watched your OTJ video again. What a handsome boy Mowgli was. I especially love the photo in your post that shows his beautiful eyes. Thank you for posting your loving tribute and for sharing your memories of him. I hope that these memories can one day help fill the empty space in your heart.

Fly free, beautiful Mowgli - and land softly - ((Keri)) sending many hugs your way.

It doesn't matter how many furry companions we have, every one that leaves us leaves behind a big hole in our lives and our hearts - and especially these extra sweet ones who, as you wrote, know when to come for their pokies - seem to know the shots make them feel better - and love that little chicken treat afterwards.

My heart goes out to you - it's so sad to say goodbye - isn't it a shame that the darned cancer can't be treated like the diabetes is.

Sending you many hugs and hoping that Dude met Mowgli and showed him around - like an older kitty should.

Keri - I am so sorry to read about your loss of Mowgli. I hope the memories will be of comfort to you. I am glad that you had Claudia, and she you, to help with these difficult times. The photos are wonderful - what a gorgeous handsome boy. I know you will remember him fondly, he will never be far from you: always close in your heart, and in your minds eye. Fly free sweet Mowgli, you will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry that you have to be separated from Mowgli. He will live forever in your heart and will be playing at the bridge waiting for you. I pray he tells you he's ok very soon so your heart can start to heal. What love there is in his eyes. You both were very blessed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know you had to treasure every single day since Mowgli was diagnosed with OSCC. I have no doubt that Mowgli knew how much he was cherished. He will never be fully gone; you hold all of the wonderful memories in your heart and they will be there forever.

Keri, my heart goes out to you in your grief. we weren't on the forum at the same time, but i knew of Mowgli from stories - and oh, what a beauty!! i would say we've been blessed beyond measure for having these needy little ones.

Mowgli will be missed, but not forgotten!

Keri Im so sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy Mowgli. Our furry loved ones are with us for such a short time. You gave him all of your love and that made a huge difference in his life. Fly free handsome boy.
 
Keri my heart breaks for you. It never is long enough. I wish with all my heart that we didn't feel the horrible pain we do when they become angels. I remember Mowgli from when I first joined FDMB. I was so happy he went OTJ.

He was a beautiful boy. He was meant to be yours and only yours. He was heaven sent. I know he is by your side always.

I wish I could give you a real hug. I will light a candle for him tonight. Sending big hugs.

I'm so sorry that Mowgli had to leave you so soon. Keep his memories close to your heart. Mowgli knew you were there for him. Still it is very very hard to let them go even when we know it is for the best. I'm glad that he had you and a life filled with love.

Oh Keri I am so very sorry. I was so hoping that you would have more time left with your beautiful, beautiful boy. I can just picture him with his beautiful new golden wings. I bet Tori was there front and center when he came to the Bridge. I'm sure they have become the best of friends already.

I know your heart is broken right now and I just wish that there was something I could do or say to help take some of the pain away. If I can do anything for you please let me know. Again I am so very sorry.

Oh no! Beautiful Mowgli. I am so sorry ((((Keri)))). Your post is a lovely tribute to him and brought tears to my eyes.

When I have the opportunity to do an OTJ video for a kitty and through working with the photographs I feel as if get to know the kitty pretty well and they are special to me. I am so sad that one of my little special friends has left. :cry:
