Hi all you lovely FDMBers, I just wondered if anyone can share the protocol for moving shot times forward...do I do it in 10-15 min increments each day as my vet nurse said (thought I would ask here as I'm not sure how much correct info I've been given there!)
We are on Caninsulin 1.5u x2 daily. :bighug:

You could do 30 minutes once a day (like for example, at your AM shot time if that worked better for your schedule) or you can do 15 minutes at each shot time, once in the AM and once in the PM. Caninsulin usually doesn't last a full 12 hours in the body so you have a little more wiggle room with your shot schedule than if you were on a depot insulin, like Lantus or Levemir.

Because Caninsulin is an in and out type of insulin, you can move times in even greater amounts, as long as you are sure the numbers are on the rise. Since Caninsulin very seldom lasts the full 12 hours, it is not as important to move the times as slowly. Honeybun seems to start going up after +8 or +9 , so even if you wanted to move it by an hour there would be no problem as long as the numbers are rising and the preshot is not too low to shoot.
