What happens if I must leave an hour before the regular dose time? How critical is the hour? Of course I will test first.
Then tomorrow's schedule will be awry. This must happen to people, how do you go about this?

Well, you're lucky because you are using Prozinc, and the 12 hour dosing spacing is more flexible with Prozinc than with one of the "L" insulins.
Are you talking about tonight's shot?

Of course test first, but with the numbers you have seen this cycle, shooting an hour early should not be a problem. If you get a much lower number at shot time, we might have to rethink that. And you could get right back on schedule tomorrow morning and shoot at the normal time, numbers being good for shooting of course. The only times you really need to be concerned is if you see a lower than normal PS reading, or a late nadir, when considering an early shot with Prozinc. It looks like today, Lucy nadired a little bit early (I'm thinking it happened in between those two blue numbers you got), so I would expect a pink PMPS number even an hour early.

Depending on her numbers...

Shooting early won't be much of a problem. It is the next shot that might be as it will be 13 hours later instead of 12. A couple of things (and I used to be at school until late so I dealt with this all the time)- but PZI is more flexible than the other insulins because it has a shorter duration

1- shoot the hour early and shoot the next shot at the same time as normal, same dose.

2- shoot the hour early and shoot a 45 minutes early the next dose, 30 minutes the third dose, and 15 minutes the 4th dose and by the 5th dose you are back to your original shot time- this steps it back up to normal.

3- same as above but only in 30 minute increments.

If this is a reoccurring problem I would be consistent each time- for Sneakers I just shot early (usually an hour later) and at her normal time.
