Georgie, Roger and I are moving from Iowa City to Kansas City tomorrow. I am quite nervous for the ride and his transition into a new home. I imagine that
he will be hissy and unapproachable. Thinking good thoughts for this guy!

A cat harness, Feliway spritzed in the carrier/crate, and current photos are recommended when moving with a cat. The harness will make escape more difficult, the Feliway may help sooth the stress, and current photos are good in case an escape happens.

If the vet will do it, a mild sedative may be useful, too.

Good luck.

Good luck on your move! The last time I moved, it took about 2 weeks for the cats to settle down and start to explore their new environment.

I second the Feliway spray - that can make a big difference, especially in helping cats accept their new home as "home".

Hi,

I hope the move went well. I just moved my sugar cat from a rural kitty of CT with indoor/outdoor access, to a city kitty of NYC who is now indoors only on August 14th. I'm pleased to report he adjusted quite well in less than 48 hours.

Feliway spray worked wonders, but I also bought their diffuser which really helped. I worked in a Vet's office for a while, and another trick is to take a dry washcloth, and pet kitty with it focusing on the head/neck/shoulders then rub your new place down with the washcloth.

I hope this helps.

Wishing you a safe and uneventful trip. I have used Bach's Rescue Remedy for pets and have had great success with it.
