I am having this problem too. The vet mentioned Symogi Effect and tonight after another 3 hour panic session, I'm convinced that's what's happening. My gorl starts looking like she feels bad around 200 because she is usually in mid 400's in the morning, and sometimes the meter just says HI at supper, which I think is 500's. She doesn't curve the next day during day, drops at night. She almost tanked Sunday afternoon so here we are again.
Her dx was August 5 2019 so we're still working on it.
I'm getting my numbers from a Freestyle Libre 14 Day reader and sensor. I go to my vet and they apply the sensor which holds about 1 week, as apposed to vet office 5 poke curve. I can scan every 5 minute is I want!! It's a blessing and a curse. She's had it since last Friday and I've been up to 2 am at least 3 nights. I look and feel like a zombie. I also have a Contour Next but I just can't get the ear stick down yet. My sister is a human Type 1 diabetic and she said she does not trust the continuous monitoring because the numbers are all over the place and frequently don't match finger stick numbers.
I pay $125 when I have the sensor put on. They loan me a meter. The meter and sensors require Rx. Vet advises I can buy my own meter for about $80 and then they will charge me $70 to apply sensor, or she can give me Rx for that too and show me how to apply. Not sure I can do that though. I priced a kit with a meter and 2 sensors at $214 on some supply site. Just FYI for those curious about cost. For in house curve I pay $100.
With this meter, you can upload data and print to see actual curve since it records data continuously. You just have to make sure to scan every 8 hours at least or it starts to overwrite date. You can even remotely send data to vet. Though I will likely visit in the morning because I can't live in this panic anymore. I fell like she may tank while I'm at work Thursday if she follows the Symogi curve like she has been. I plan to only give 3u in the morning and then see what dr says. I'd rather only do 2 but ...
She had the sensor last from Dec 18-26 and on Dec 23, she tanked to >40 during the day so vet changed her from Prozinc to Vetsulin. 1st impression is I don't like Vetsulin but I think we are still dosing to high at 4u. She only got as far as 77 tonight but like I said, she starts to get worrisome at 200ish, so I did a little karo to stop the freefall and she ate a little food from my hand and then I got her to eat a little more in abut 45 mins. Plus about 10 treats in between. At 9:15pm she was 253, 10pm = 156, 11pm = 77, 11:30 = 84, 12:15am = 119, 1:20am = 198, and now at 2:15am it's flown to 300.
Man I hate this, but it's got to be rebound. Sunday when she was slipping at 94 around 11am, I only gave her a little food and a few treats because we had to leave for a couple hours, and she was back to 326 by food time at 6pm. I waited until 12:30p when she was back to 112 and trending upward before leaving.
She hates me when I give her shots now. I was doing so much better 3 months ago. I wasn't sweating it before but now I am
