Hi guys. So, I know most of you use Pepcid AC for your babies' tummies, and I know just what to get and now, thanks to you, know the dosage.

I was giving Reglan to Eegie on the advice of my vet, and for food motility - he was regurgitating more than vomiting (after pooping in the morning), and I thought that made sense... make the food go through so there's no need to puke.

But, his appetite's been not-good to bad in the mornings. I can only attribute it to maybe stomach acid (he's disinterested in the foods I present, but he'll still drink some milk, which he loves - so it's not regular inappetance).

I'm considering trying him on the Pepcid instead (doc didn't want me to use both, he wanted either/or). But I suppose my question is how quickly Pepcid AC takes effect, and how long that effect lasts.

I do Reglan 2x/day. I know it's sweet and would be better at night, but I also know that his tummy gets upset at night when he won't eat the food that's out (he gets raw - I can't use the auto-feeder, 'cause he won't get any of it - I leave as low-carb a kibble out as possible).

So, I'm considering Reglan in morning while I feed all day, and Pepcid at night so acid doesn't build up. But don't know the action of Pepcid well enough in cats to know if that's viable. Any help?

Cool. Then I did okay, if you consider another 1/2-3/4 oz of raw salmon a meal.... That's all he'll still eat for now - but at least there was some interest!
Thank you, @Larry and Kitties for the input.

Gonna give another dose tonight to see if it helps his tummy overnight...

Today's been COMPLETELY exhausting. And I'm still going to have to use Viyo, if I want him to get any nutrition...

Watch out for Reglan - it mucks about with the dopamine system and can cause 'tics' etc. Also, if your cat has nausea issues there are meds that work better in cats (they don't have many of the receptors that Reglan targets). Ask your vet about generic ondansetron or Cerenia. Pepcid (famotidine) alone only helps with stomach acid problems.

Reglan has worked better in the past, for Eegie, @Critter Mom - but this time it did no good. We did switch to Pepcid on the Monday I wrote in, and he got a shot of Cerenia on Tuesday. Reglan works well for motility in certain circumstances on Eegie, but not this past time....

You might want to discuss the use of Zantac with your vet. Many on the Tanya's Website Support Forum recommend ranitidine(Zantac) rather than famatodine(Pepcid)- it supposedly is better for gut motility.
