Could you lovely people take a look at Snickers' SS? She is all over the board and I am not sure if I should raise her Lantus from 1.5 to 1.75. I am thinking her low days she might have gotten a slightly higher dose than 1.5, her needles are so dang hard to read. We just ordered new ones that mark at 1/2 unit instead of just every unit. Thank you for the help!

Before you increase, could you try to get a few tests in on the PM cycle? Just grabbing a quick "before bed" test at night will help answer a lot of questions.

Most cats go lower at night, and I'm concerned that Snickers may be going lower at night and then "bouncing" high again by morning

I know that makes it really hard, but it really is important to get some tests on that PM cycle so we get a better picture of what's going on with Snickers

Is there any way you can adjust your shot schedule so you aren't shooting so late at night? You're looking at someone who hates mornings...and I mean HATES them.... but being able to get tests at night so I know China is safe while I'm sleeping makes me sleep a lot better!

No...My husband works out of state for two weeks out of the month and I work 1-10 so I can't shoot her earlier than that or I would be creating a new schedule every day. This was the best schedule we could come up with for our schedules. I usually go to bed at 2 am so I can test until then and possibly get some +10 and +11 readings.

That'd be great!! If you can try to get a +2 at 12:30, that would be a great test to get

We've seen a lot of cats where that +2 can act like a crystal ball as to where they're going later in the cycle too.

If the +2 is about the same as the Pre-shot number, it's usually a "normal" Lantus cycle that gradually goes down to nadir and then gradually goes back up.

If the +2 is lower than the Pre-shot, that can be your "early warning" that you should plan on getting more tests in later in the cycle because Snickers may be dropping too much

If the +2 is higher than the Pre-shot, that can indicate that she's starting to "bounce" ....those are the times when it's usually safe to take a break on the testing

Of course ECID, but generally, we've seen the "+2" test be a really good way to "predict the future"!
