Monty's first day on Lantus

Hey there, friends.

Monty switched from caninsulin 4IU to Lantus 2.5IU today.

He was kept in clinic today and the vet took a reading every 3-4 hours, data is in my sheet. Was wanting a second pair of eyes on it. I know it's only day 1 but those numbers already look more consistent. Previously he was 15-20 pre shoot but now he was around 12 just now pre shoot.

I'm planning on doing a curve in 10 days on my vet's advice, I imagine I need to wait for the depot to build before I can have opinions about this dose.

It will take about a week for the depot to build. In the meantime have a look at the protocols we use to see what you think. Yes it’s too soon to tell anything.

When starting a new insulin, we usually take into consideration the dose you were already on, so 2.5 may not be enough, but hopefully it will at least work better for him while you find a good dose.

One thing this disease will teach you is patience!!

Can we get you to put a line between your Caninsulin numbers and your Lantus numbers that shows very clearly that you changed insulin?

If you look at China's chart on May 18th, 2017 and May 19th, you'll see what I mean.
