Once again her sugars were on hi in the morning. I have been giving her slices of turkey (not the lunchmeat), after all it IS Easter. LOL Could that be bringing her up? I hope not she really loves it. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL & GOD BLESS
I have been giving her the (REAL) turkey (not lunchmeat) for the past 2 days. I kinda knew in the back of my mind that it probably wasn't good for her, but as spoiled as she is, I gave it to her. But from now on, even with those little irresistible eyes, her answer is no. She has been on hi for about 2 days. Well, since last night. This evening I did (as requested) raised her insulin to .50. I have my fingers (& toes) crossed that this is the remedy . Is there anything else I can do???? She doesn't look bad, I mean shes eating, she is drinking her crown royal (JUST KIDDIN) HER WATER, and going to the bathroom as well. Her problem is when I give her turkey she tries to be a brat and not eat her dinner because she wants turkey. Well, her little, adorable, eye trick didn't work on me tonight. I feel like I let her down

Re: Mom-mom 4/20/14 AMPS hi. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL

Happy Easter to you, Laura. The turkey certainly could be bringing up her numbers. They sometimes add various sugars to deli meat, so it would be important to read the labels to see what's in the food. I noticed that Mom-Mom has been running quite high for the past several cycles. I wonder if it's not her tooth causing these issues. If you can, I really would encourage you to have that looked at by the vet. If she has an infection, it may be really, really hard (if not impossible) to get her diabetes under control.

I know you mentioned she gets really stressed at the vet's office, but they can work around that. I think it would be better to be stressed out for a little while than to have the continued stress from a bad tooth. That's just my two cents' worth, though! ;-)

Have a great day, Laura!

Re: Mom-mom 4/20/14 AMPS hi. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL

Happy Easter to you too! I agree on getting the teeth checked out. a number of cats here showed really fast improvement after a dental. Even if the turkey isn't lunch meat poultry is often injected to be more moist for roasting and it often contains sugar. If it is a packaged bird check out the label. It won't be terrible of Mom-mom, but it might have some effect on her numbers.

You can also use digital calipers to measure the dose. Markings on the syringes can vary quite a bit for our tiny doses, especially under half a unit. Here's a link on how to use calipers. They can be used w/ any type of syringe, Marje just used Terumos because that is what she shoots w/. The calipers are inexpensive, $10 to $15. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby there is usually a 20% or 25% coupon in the Sunday paper.

Absolutely please increase her dose to 0.5u tonight unless she comes down today. I'm sorry because Julie and I discussed a dose increase for last night and I think we both thought the other was posting it. I should have double checked.

If you get the calipers and need help, please let me know.

I hope you have a lovely holiday, Laura.
