Ok, many of you had input on mocha's ears, when I thought it was ear mites .. It turned out to be a bacteria infection, in both ears. Tomorrow will be one week since we started drops (steroid free ones). The vet told me we should notice an improvement in just a few dyas, and that she would not need to be back for a check up. We were told by the vet, and on the back of the bottle, to NOT clean out her ears, so we haven't.
Mocha has stopped folding her ears down and shaking her head and turning it to the side and generally seems less bothered by them. But when we look in them, we can see that there is still the brown gunk in there, just now it seems more spread out, like the drops broke it all up, and as she was shaking her head on occasion, it splattered in chunks throughout her ears? It's very hard to explain, but it does look different.
I'm not sure if the infection is gone, and this is the crud that is left, and if so, what should we do about it? Or does this mean the infection is still present since there is brown gunk in her ears still? Would the drops totally dissolve the brown gunk? Is that the look we were hoping for?
I haven't called the vet yet, since I wanted to know what you all think first .. plus it's another costly visit even for a "check up"
Any advice is always appreciated!
