Is this maybe a bounce again? Or does he need a dose increase?? Unsure of what to shoot tonight...the usual .75? Or lower? Will be home all day tomorrow to monitor-so I can get some mid-cycle tests to see what's going on. PM'd BJM to help with a sliding scale...

I have to admit that I am not sure, Lyndsey. He seems to be responding less to more insulin, but I see nohigh midcycle numbers that would indicate he needs less. (an inverse curve) So I think increase tonight and monitor. Maybe up to one unit?

So yesterday's cycle does look a little inverse. The red before going back down for pmps. Can you do a curve this weekend to see what is really happening?

Yes, I can do a curve this weekend. When you say inverse curve-what does that mean? I've been trying to read up on it but for some reason I'm having a hard time understanding what that means exactly...is it the same thing as a bounce?

Not quite. An inverse curve is when, instead of going lower mid-cycle, the numbers are actually lower at beginning and end than in the middle. It's the opposite of what we want--we want a nice, gentle "smile," instead we've got a "frown." An inverse curve usually implies that the dose is too high (actually, one inverse curve can be a fluke--but if you see a couple, then you need to react). You can't actually tell if a curve in inverse without a mid-cycle number. A bounce, on the other hand, is when they go low in the cycle, so their body reacts by dumping more sugar into their system, so they run high in reaction. It doesn't always mean they're dangerously low--just lower than they're used to.

Got it! Wonderfully explained-thank you!! You also made me want to go out & get some graphing paper so I can see his patterns in a more visual way-lol!
