Mitten Is Starting Lantus

I emptied my last vial of U insulin this morning (Expired in Jan 07 and opened Dec 08). So now she gets her first dose of Lantus tonight. I plan to start at about 0.3 units since she no get between 0.1 and 0.4 units of U. For Mitten U worked well and was relatively inexpensive. I think I paid $34 for the last 10 ml vial.

You and I, or Thomas and Mittens are in the same boat. I was using expired in 07 U as well, and switched him over to Levemir in February. I though, still have an unopened vial of U in the fridge as backup, but the Levemir seems to be doing the trick. He has gained back a bit of weight. And I can't believe that I used to switch his vials every 6 weeks or so, because once they stopped making it, as you know, they seemed to stretch and last forever.
