Mitten has been coughing the last few days when I picked him up. Yesterday I went to the vet where x-rays showed congestive heart failure (enlarged heart with fluid accumulation. Lasix is having little positive effect and she is not eating by herself. The Lasix is doing its job though since he is drinking a lot and urinating also and has diarrhea. Listening to her heart with a stethoscope shows terrible lung sounds. The following is trace of the sounds. In the quiet areas you can see the heartbeats. Her time is short.

I am sorry too, Larry. Mitten has been with us for so long. I know nothing I say can ease the pain you are going through. I just want you to know you and Mitten are in my thoughts and prayers.

Larry - Thinking of you and Mitten (and all of your littles ones) at this time and sending lots of prayers. You are a very special pet parent.

Wrapping you and Mitten in cyber hugs. Mitten is a special boy for sure. I am so sorry. I know you will make the most of what time Mitten has.

Wrapping Mitten and you in cyber hugs and prayers. Hoping for comfort for both of you.

((Larry)) and sweet ((Mitten)) I am so very sorry to see this. I know Mitten will be well taken care of and surrounded with love.

I'm very sorry you and Mitten are dealing with this. My Boris also has CHF, we have done two abdominal taps on him to remove fluid, has had two Lasix injections and is on Lasix. Removing the fluid has helped to make him more comfortable and is just buying us a little more time.:(
I know you must be devastated. Prayers and Hugs.

Larry I thought I had posted a reply to this but just checked my posts and it hadn't posted. I'm concerned that this is not CHF -- CHF kitties rarely rarely rarely cough. Lasix causes drinking and urination in anyone who takes it so it's not a measure of how it's working for CHF. Breathing easier does say so. Feline chest rads are notoriously hard to read. I'd get mitten to a cardiologist ASAP, like tomorrow. They should give you a courtesy discount, just ask.
