Today Misty dropped pretty sharply to 83 @+5. I really need to go to bed so I gave her a little MC and her feeder will still open at +6 to give a LC snack.
What now? 1 unit seems to be not enough, 1.25 is too much when following SLGS. I cannot follow TR because it's impossible for me to get an AM cycle test 4 days out of the week. The lack of sleep from late night testing is also hitting me hard, I can't continue to do this every night.... I'm at a loss, please help

Bree, are you giving low carb snacks in the first half of the cycles as well as +6?
Often if you give some snacks earlier in the cycle it can help stop any big drops.
That is a beautiful cycle though tonight!

Just give her a snack. 83 is a great, healing number. This high dark grand are exactly where you want her to be at naidar. Remember that normal is 50-120.

Yes, a snack at +3 and +6 every cycle :)
I know, honestly I'm thrilled that the insulin is working so well, but technically she's earned a reduction under SLGS with a drop under 90. Should I just keep her at this dose anyway, even though I'm not able to do the amount of testing required for TR?

Yes, I'm happy to see some greens! My worry is that technically under SLGS that 83 earned her a reduction. I actually increased to 1.25 a few weeks ago, then had to drop back down to 1 because we saw another number in the 80s. Then her numbers got worse again on 1 unit. I can't do a test most AM cycles so TR isn't viable.... what are your thoughts? Can I keep the dose at 1.25 anyway?

@JanetNJ
What should she do about the dose since she said her numbers were worse at 1 unit ,since she did earn a reduction following SLGS should she still reduce?

Up to you. If you can test you could stay at 1.25. If your nervous go to 1. Another option is to do a skinny 1.25... Like just below it.

Ugh this is hard. 1 is clearly not enough and I don't see my work situation changing anytime soon, so no tests most weekday AMs. I want to get her regulated and possibly on the road to remission, and I don't think that's happening on 1 unit. But I also don't want to put her in danger when I can't be home to test. I don't know what to do!

So cut the difference and go in between.

Hi Bree, yes it looks like a bounce from the 83 yesterday. Bounces can last for up to 6 cycles. Very normal especially in newly diagnosed kitties.
Once you start to see the numbers come back down off the bounce, just be aware that sometimes the BG can drop quite fast and low during that cycle.
So you can slow it down by feeding if that happens.

If it is 6 cycles from the 83 I will thankfully be home all day to monitor.
How do I tell if she's coming off the bounce? A lower preshot?

She can come off the bounce anytime during the 6 cycles. Sometimes the BG will go up higher just before it starts to drop.
Try and get at least one test in every cycle and when you start to see the BG drop, test more often
