This kitty really likes keeping me on my toes.

Yesterday I was wondering how to prevent the morning pinks and reds. I wasn't sure if I should test sooner to catch her before her levels got too high or if I should adjust her dosing. Then she decides to throw me a 155 this morning.

Guess I'll recheck her later and decide what to do

Re: Missy 9/9 AMPS 155

Morning,

It looks like liver training to me. She starts with a pink than sees a blue you get another pink, she sees a green you get a red. It takes time for their livers to get used to the lower bg's again before it stops dumping suger to protect itself.

Your doing great.

PMPS 317 @ 6PM Fed and shot s0.4U.

Probably vet stress. Hopefully we'll see some more blues and greens tomorrow

+3 71

A little lower than I would like it to be at +3. I gave her a spoonful of the FF. 9% carbs vs the 7% she's been eating. Not too big of a jump. Hopefully high enough to keep her from dropping too much more, but not too high to cause a huge food spike.

Good catch, that will probably slow the drop.

When Harley gave me a +3 of 41 I fed 8% carb food vs the 4% he usually gets and it brought him up.

Thanks. That's good to know. I would like to avoid super high numbers in the morning if possible

Just catching up.... glad the vet trip is over nailbite_smile and she is all better. Did they give you insight into what caused it and how to prevent it happening again? Miralax works wonders for some things, but I don't know anything (thankfully  ) about the glands stuff.

I like your idea of catching the #s a little on the early side, before they get too high, and shooting then. That is an approach that seems to have worked well for a number of people. If you can manage it schedule & test-strip wise that is, those are the tough parts. You could also try something like a steady 0.3 at 12/12 and see what happens. If you get good nadirs and the PSs aren't too high, that could work - probably trial & error really to figure what works best.

Nope. They didn't give me any instructions on how to prevent it from happening again. They should call in the morning to check on her, so I'll ask them then. I could tell that she's finally starting to feel better from the diabetes though. The past couple of times when we've had to go to the vet, she let me put her in the carrier with no complaints. The vet would always comment on how Missy would let them do just about anything to her with any problems. Today, though, she fought me with everything she had when it came to putting her in the carrier. She cried the whole way to the vet. Hopefully, we won't have to make that trip again any time soon.

I was thinking about trying to do 0.3 BID to see what happens. Especially since she dropped so quickly tonight with a 0.4. Of course, my U100 syringes don't have 1/2 marks, so figuring out where 0.3 is will be the challenge. I guess we'll just shoot for more than 0.2 but less than 0.4 and hope for the best.
