Missing Mickey

I lost my 20 year old Russian Blue in July - you may have heard the story. At the end of his delicate life, fluids put him into respiratory distress....and so, I rushed out the door with him. The Fairfield NJ Police department has posted things about me- making themselves out to be heroic, and I out to be insane. The truth is, while I should have stayed while the police wrote me a ticket- the police behaved even worse. I told them where I was going- and they didn't care, at all.
They also arrested me (I will leave out those details- but apparently it is legal to punch and slam peoples heads into the ground that we arrest in NJ?), but left my cat in the car, in the summer months for almost 3 hours in distress.Imagine this? Yet they lied and posted that Animal Emergency came and picked up the cat. I The tow truck driver dropped him off HOURS later. The also brag as if telling some well written story, that the cat is well. The cat died. It is despicable how they behaved, and disgusting how they rant their lies online.

This animal emergency hospital was in West Caldwell for many years. The police commonly escorted emergencies in. Apparently, Fairfield is not so pet friendly.

So, thanks to everyone who supported me, and thank you to all you old timers who taught me how to take care of him years ago. He wouldn't have lasted those 6 years without you and I taking such good care of his precious life.

Amy, did you get legal counsel? Sounds like you've got a lawsuit you can win. I doubt that it's legal to punch and assault someone while making an arrest. And certainly you can sue for libel and slander.

I think the OP should talk to a lawyer. Seems to me this isn't something she should wait for karma to take care of. Most lawyers will take consultations for free. If everything she says is true (and I see no reason to doubt her) we're talking assault and battery, libel and slander at the very least. It CAN'T be legal for the police to treat her in the manner she described, and the cat too, and then flat-out lie about it.

I know in California, they have laws that allow you to sue for the loss of your pet and they also have charges that can be levied for leaving an animal in a car. If I were you, I'd check if NJ has any similar laws on the books (it looks like they do).

I still remember you and Mickey so fondly, and I also still remember when this all happened it was just horrible. I know how bad it hurts to lose them in the first place let alone this way..You were the best momma bean Mickey could have ever asked for.

Amy, can you post links to where the police are spreading misinformation about you? I found one article that just give basic info, but I can't find anything else. Are they posting stuff to their website?

In your original thread you mentioned you had a court date in two weeks. Can you tell us how that went? Were the charges dropped?
