Missing evening insulin for 2 days

We've got to go away for a couple of days in the summer ( leaving mid morning on a Friday & coming back mid afternoon on a Sunday )

If we put Squiggles in the cattery we did before, it would mean dropping her off Thurs afternoon & not picking her up til Monday morning ) the cattery owner grumpily agreed to give Squiggs her morning jabs only There are no other catteries round here who will give insulin. & Squiggles hates catteries., she always soils her carrier & looked traumatised the last time we picked her up

One of the vet nurses at our local practise ( she's a really nice girl ) has offered to feed Squiggs Fri evening, all day Sat & Sunday morning ) & give her her morning jabs, before she starts work & feed her after work , but she lives too far away to come back at 8.30pm for Squiggles 2nd injection of the day .

I will ask a neighbour to check on Squiggles during the days we're away & the vet nurse says if she's worried about Squiggles, she'll admit her to one of the vets' cats overnight pens for observation.

My question is, is it more dangerous for Squiggles to only have morning injections for 2 days, or to go without insulin entirely for 48 hours ?

If it were my kitty I would keep her at home and have the vet nurse come and give the shots. I would think that squiggles would be less stressed in her home environment (and so blood glucose will remain normal-ish) and just missing the evening is better Than missing it all.

Could you not slowly bring forward the shot time before you go so that she can give all the injections? What time will she feed him in the morning ? Could you pay her to stay overnight? Too much money perhaps.

Thanks phlika , for your input. I couldn't really ask her to stay overnight (expense & it wouldn't be feasible for her ) . I think the vet nurse will be feeding Squiggles & giving her the insulin before she starts work at about 7.45 am & then feeding her when she finishes work about 6 pm ( Later than Squiggles normally has one of her larger meals,) so I'll have to leave some Hills M/D diabetic biscuits down for her to eat during the day ( she's a grazer )

I suppose I could move her meals & injections round to about 7.30am & 6.30pm, but I couldn't really ask her to hang about til 7.30pm as she has to get home to see to her family.
