Hello everyone,

My cat Sandy was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She has been doing well but this morning my alarms didn’t ring and I’m so disappointed in myself because I ended up missing her dose of insulin. It was due at 8 am this morning and it’s now 10 am. It’s the first time I’ve unintentionally missed her dose. What should I do? I’m very worried..

can I still give her her wet food (usually she has a can of fancy feast pate before her insulin).

thank you,

Don't know if you saw this on your intro post
Here is a link helping us to help you link. If you noticed, our members have some basic information about their cat's in their signature. This helps us to not pester you by asking the same questions (your cat's name, insulin type, date of diagnosis, etc.) repeatedly. We also have a link to our spreadsheet in our signature. We are very numbers driven. The spreadsheet is a record of your cat's progress. By linking it in your signature, we can follow along and provide feedback should you need the help

Don't freak out. Deep breaths. Things like this happen. If it helps, my alarm didn't go off a couple of weeks ago and I was late with my cat's dose too! So you're not alone. It's okay. I would just give the food and go about the rest of your day as usual. Pretend like it was a fur shot instead of a missed alarm. For the evening shot, resume as normal unless one of the experienced members here tell you to do something different. Remember to stay calm :)

After reading your comments, I greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much! I will continue as normal. It's really disheartening when I've been trying my best but I guess it happens. I just want what's best for her. Thank you everyone!

Each of us here know what a whirlwind this is. I'm sure almost ever member has missed a shot. In the beginning, I used to confuse myself with whether I had already dosed him or not. I read somewhere to set 2 syringes out each night. After I did this, I was never confused again. Just a couple weeks ago, I did my entire morning routine and ended with a treat, went to test at +1 and saw his shot laying there. He hadn't even gotten his medicine yet. We all make mistakes. Forgive yourself quickly.

Hi! I see you have a spreadsheet, but I can’t see any numbers on it. I would like to help.
