? Mirataz vs cypro

Mirataz doesn't seem to be helping Leroy's lack of appetite (pancreatitis again). I alternate ears but he mostly picks at food or looks at food and walks away. Toppers don't help. He is getting daily odansetron and Cerenia and bupe and fluids. Would cyproheptadine work better? Wedgewood Pharmacy has a transdermal gel option, if my vet doesn't have it. I need him to eat more than what he currently is eating to avoid fatty liver disease on top of everything else :nailbiting:

Cyproheptadine is always my first choice. Tge pills are ine. I put in a tiny gel cap.
You can give twice a day if needed. My cats just need a sliver so start small. What does and how often are you giving ondansetron? It can be dosed 3 or even 4 times. With Chai I found she needed 3 times every though she was not fed overnight. When I did that she soon did not need any appy stim.

Hi Kelly.

I might get pills and a transdermal just to have options.

Leroy gets half a 4mg odansetron up to twice a day.

Ondansetron only works for 6-8 hours. Vets undergoes it. I do not know what was wrong with Chsi but giving it every 12 hours was not enough. She was lucky every morning. When I read about the short duration, I added a third dose before i went to bed. That kept it in her system so she wax not so nauseous in the morning. How much does Leroy weigh?

I work full time and am unable to give odansetron three times a day. I can give it at AMPS and PMPS and maybe a late night dose but no mid-day dose.

That’s what I did. You will be okay with the morning and then dinner. If you add a late night which I did I think it might make all the difference. It can be given as soon as 6 hours after the dinner dose. I gave it at 7 a.m., 6 p.m. and around 11 or 12 at night.

Anything for Leroy even if it means being slightly sleepy deprived and not so functional at work🥱. This is assuming he'll want to take a pill late at night. He hasn't touched his late night feeder snack lately so not sure about how he feels about pill dough.

Can you pull him by putting it in a gel cap? Then chase it with a syringe of water if all meat baby food.

He took the odansetron last night. At some point he at the snack in the feeder. But still picky with breakfast. I managed to get him to eat most of the food and another odansetron. He's not due for Cerenia until PMPS.

The vet says we can try cypro. A prescription for the transdermal will be put into Wedgewood.

iwas tokd told to give 1/4 a cyproheptadine but it was too much. Try 1/8. You can always go up. Did the vet run a culture and sensitivity?

Yes, the urinalysis results are on the SS.

Leroy gets half of a 4 mg odansetron. It usually helps but with all the issues he has going on right now, not so much.

He did eat most of breakfast this morning and seemed more alert.
