? Minky and Gabapentin Problem

Has anyone had issues with kitties spitting up liquid Gabapentin/foaming at the mouth? I just gave Minky some (1.25 mL) like it said on the bottle for her hyperesthesia--she had a terrible reaction to it. She spit it all out and foamed at the mouth. She cannot have steroids as she developed diabetes after her last shot for the hyperesthesia. She is flinching and crying/hissing when I touch her which is why I think the needles are causing pain too. I am starting to get worried about this. Thank you for any help.

I’ve never given gabapentin and I don’t give liquid meds. I like to give pills in gel capsules. Meds that taste bad will make them foam. Early on when I tried liquids I got more on the bathroom mirrors than in their mouths.

Gabapentin is not bitter though. Just checked.

There was flavoring in the liquid so maybe that is what was bitter; it was terrible.

Gabapentin also comes in pill form. You could also check with a compounding pharmacy to see if they make a gel that you can rub on your cat's ear. For pills, I typically buy gel caps and shove the pill into one of the gel cats. That way if there's any bitterness, your cat won't notice since the gel caps are neutral.
