Welcome to my world. We didnt do as many tests on Tiggy but it was similar. Two days after a vet trip he got it, then a second cat. Then my parents visited and went home and their cats got it. So we thought something contagious from the vets. Bleached everything I could. Treated all cats with flagyl for a week and Tiggy for two weeks. Gave him fortiflora too. Tested stools for parasites... Nothing. It gradually became intermittent after the second round of flagyl and then went away after a few more weeks, never found a cause.

Sienne had a similar issue and her cat was on flagyl for a month before it cleared,

its horrible when there's no dx - its like stumbling around blindly.
We did have a soft but not liquid poo today ( :RAHCAT ) so hoping the meds are finally doing something. I also gave him fluids for the first time yesterday - boy, that needle is sooo big in comparison to the insulin syringe.
Of the 3 cats, Honey's diabetes is the easiest to mange!
 
I'm wondering if it is like clostridum difficil, a nasty infection humans can get which is very resistant to treatment ... and often relapses. Its what killed my dad - they thought it had cleared, he moved to Texas, and he relapsed quickly, then passed.

Have they found anything infectious at all?

And for a shot in the dark, if it is some sort of pariste that is difficult to detect, what about adding food grade diatomaceous earth to his meals? Its relatively innocuous, so shouldn't hurt him, and if there are cysts or parasites, may help control or eliminate them, in addition to what other meds are on board. Do run that by your vet - I know they add it to farm animals feed to reduce the impact of parasites on the animals health.
 
Well, you can only find what you test for and some times repeated tests may not find something even when it is present.

Has the vet discussed doing an intestinal biopsy with you? That may rule in or out inflammatory bowel disease and GI cancer (well, wherever samples are taken).
 
Ouch! Your initial post was just painful to read. I'm all about spending money on animals if needed, but it must be really frustrating to not have answers. Yay for the stool being soft - maybe that's a step in the right direction. I do hope this turns around soon! :YMHUG:
 
Before you start any more inconclusive tests, have you tried fortiflora or yogurt? What about a food intolerance or IBS?

Tiggy really doesn't have normal poos since he went on canned but I have to live with him rubbing his ass on the carpet and occasionally needing to wipe it because they stick to his long fur. I would say his are like thick ice cream nowadays.. At least it isn't liquid. And his are intermittent too... Sounds like minke may be starting to turn the corner though... Touch wood.
