Mimi 2/25 AMPS 131, surfed the lagoon, PMPS 107

I don't know why you asked, you've shot that low before. As long as you can monitor, have plenty of test strips, and high carb food, you are good to go.

FYI, Marje is out of the country for a while.

I know I guess I just wanted to hear it :)
Thanks!

Good job shooting! Yes, shoot low to stay low. Anything over 50 is shootable if you can monitor, have higher carb food and plenty of test strips.

soon, you’ll be looking for all greens to shoot! ;)

My only thing is now she’s in the 200s. I can’t seem to get her little body to accept the lower numbers without bouncing back into the sunshine!

you think eventually this will normal out and she’ll stop bouncing after a dip into the lagoon?

I was also just thinking - when she went DKA and got diagnosed with diabetes, I had them on a raw formula diet for around 6 months, so there’s a small wonder in my head that she won’t ever get better. (You always hear when you switch diets they can improve drastically)
The formula I had them on did have 5% fruits and vegetables, but since they are now on a different brand that is ONLY the entire animal.
I wonder how long she’s been uncontrolled with diabetes before diagnosing her.. the vet said from her chart back in April she did show glucose in her urine but didn’t think it was cause for alarm? She was chubby the last 4 years of her life, and I did discover that even though I had them on grain free canned with some kibble as a snack- the gravy in the food was full of sugar!! (I checked it on the food chart and now it made more sense)

anyway, I’m just rambling. I hope she stays in greens more...
I know she for sure needs a molar out- which I am going to bring her to a vet who specializes in dental surgery. The initial consult is happening next week.
Really nervous to have her go under for surgery but I’m thinking this could even help her get better and could be a reason she’s not getting better?
At least after she has her cleaning and extraction I can know that I am doing everything I can to help lead her towards remission!

has anyone here had their kitties go under anesthesia while being diabetic?

She’s such a good little patient. I love her so so so much. Wonder what they are thinking through all of this? If D kitties had a website to go to for their caregivers what would they post about?

Mimi is such a cutie! She looks super chill. Maybe she's wondering... "what did I do to deserve so much attention and so many treats?"

I am experiencing the same bounce phenomenon with my boy. I have to believe they will eventually get used to normal #s again and stop bouncing. Can't speak to the anesthesia, but I pray she stays safe!

Yes, Bubba has gone under anesthesia for teeth cleaning/ removal 4 times since he was diabetic. If there is a bad tooth, you are not going to get them regulated. Pain and inflammation will keep the numbers higher.

You don’t want it to get so painful that she stops eating as that won’t be a good thing while on insulin.

Bubba just had a cleaning and tooth removal on Tuesday and I thank my lucky stars that the bad tooth didn’t knock him out of remission.

You’ll be in good hands with a dental specialist.
