currently just fed Mimi her regular LC after her 59 number.

I know I have to wait until the number drops below 50 for a decrease to be considered but is that with or without the influence of food?
Like what if she never drops below because she eats enough food to keep her above.. does that make sense?

Like what if I intervene with higher carbs before it has a chance to drop below 50 or 40 for longterm diabetics. From the looks of it right now at only +2 she should be closer to her PMPS number, is that low number at +2 telling me this does is too much? Do we always have to wait till they drop on their own below 50 in order to warrant a reduction? Does that make any sense?

I notice she bounces fairly quickly after a drop too so her rising might be that. One thing I also have noticed since shes been diabetic for a year now is she clears bounces quicker than she used to- is that common? @Wendy&Neko

Will she ever go into remission?... :( she bounces so much after any number under 100 (it seems)

I also need someone to explain the insulin depot to me as if you were using apples and oranges, or maybe like Im a 5th grader.

I understand its a "store of insulin" but what does that even mean in how it affects her?
I always here "the answer often lies in the depot"
But I still don't get how the depot changes the numbers. Ive read articles on here but its like, I need someone to explain WHY to me in very simple terms

I hope I explain it right....

I like to visualize the depot as a little cup with little tiny holes in it. In the bottom, up the sides, etc. When we give insulin it fills the cup and a little insulin also leaks out the holes for the body to use. We give insulin to fill that particular sized cup. The needs of the kitty change over time, and sometimes a larger cup is needed with more holes. Sometimes a smaller cup with less holes. The holes in any size cup leak at a fairly slow rate allowing the cup to fill.

When the cup is full...sometimes the cup overflows a bit from the top. Sometimes we need to ‘drain the depot’ a bit to reduce to a slightly smaller cup. When the cup the kitty needs at that time isn’t full enough, not all of the holes leak any insulin =increase needed.

of course, insulin is a hormone and lots of sciency stuff happens to it :p But... that’s how I like to visualize it.

No actually, Mimi is now considered a long term diabetic, because she's been diabetic for over a year. The new criteria is going under 40, or going a week in normal numbers. Alternatively, if she is a cat that doesn't hold reductions well, you can hold for 3 times between 40 and 49, on three separate days. Don't worry about influence of food. If she wants a reduction, she'll tell you in spite of the food. Looks like she was just teasing you tonight.

what if the influence of food is MC or HC? They always go up from those don't they?
