Milo’s mom

Hi all,
Wanted to say thank you for those who helped with my Denamarin post.
On Tuesday I noticed Milo was walking funny and having issues with his feeding tube. I made an appt with our vet who also said to take him back to the ER. The vet there said he had a small kink, rewrapped it and said that any other issues needed to be addressed with his vet. I was concerned with his food and that he was getting enough nutrients.
I asked if I could blend regular wet food to a liquid and he said to continue with the Recovery Convalescence and back it off if he gagged as he was up to 100ml every 6hrs. Then he brushed us off. He said in his discharge summary the drooling was from the tube.
Fast forward to 4:15 at our Vet. She took one look at him and saw he was critical.
Ran his blood and his potassium was at a 2. Range should be 3.5-5.8. Long story short, there was nothing that could be done. He passed peacefully surrounded by myself, my husband and my oldest son, his human (he 19). His head was in my son’s hand. My son said he was so happy to be home from college and would have hated not being here. My youngest, 13, didn’t want to be there. I don’t blame him, but we wanted to give him the option. Something my parents didn’t give me and I hated them for it, but that’s another story.
Reading over the hospital notes I found they only fed him 2x in the 3 days he was there. The flood him with IV fluids which cause his potassium to drop. When we brought him in, his potassium was at 5.2, the labs they ran 2x show it at a 3. They knew it was dropping and they didn’t give him anything!! I also found out that the only reason they installed the feeding tube was due to my Vet calling them after I called her.
Our Milo didn’t have to die. He’s gone. I know I did everything I could. What I can’t get past is how much he must have suffered at their hands.
