Keeping in mind that this is the RELAXED message board (and I don't really know what the tight regulation is all about, but the advice I am getting here seems pretty intense to me)--I would like to share the latest blood sugars on Midnight's spreadsheet. I am generally following the advice I have been given regarding food (the lowest carb dry food I can find due to her intolerance of wet food) and dosing. I have finally decided that I would rather know what Midnight's blood sugars are before I test her. But there are several other things I would like to mention: I can't be sure it is 0.75 units I am giving her--it is hard to see on the syringe, but I am trying....; there have been and will be many days this month when I am not home to test her midcycle, and my sleep is so precious that I don't want to get up in the middle of the night to test her unless I am really worried about it (I work night shift and am away 3 nights a week, and some days I only get an hour or two of sleep, so on my nights off, I value every hour of sleep I can get and I don't want to disturb that); I will be gone for a week at the end of the month and the cat sitter probably won't test her--I am lucky if I can even find someone to feed/shoot her twice a day--so I want to feel comfortable with the dosing before that; and finally, she is still having loose bowel movements. Not quite diarrhea, but definitely not formed like they were before her diagnosis. I assume this is due to the food change and not the diabetes. I seriously hate to ask my pet sitter to go around a wipe up 10 or 12 piles of loose poop every day off the basement floor. Someone mentioned metamucil or something like that. I am going to go see my vet this week and discuss the spreadsheet, dosing, and bowel movements.

Hey there -just wanted to say I was passing through, took a look at Midnights spreadsheet and I think you're on the right track - looks like the preshot numbers are gradually coming down, you're able to shoot every time which helps keep her consistent. I'd guess that those pink numbers are the "bounce" from that 106 midcycle number you caught...and a bounce can take a couple of days to clear.

Good luck with the vet visit.

I have crappy vision and it was worse before the cataracts were removed which is when I was treating Spitzer. I found clip on magnifiers to be extremely helpful.

I also have a sleep disorder, so I get not wanting to break up the sleep you can manage, especially if working nights. Having done some research on sleep, there are a few things which may be helpful. Your mileage may vary!

Room darkening shades/blinds/curtains.
Covering any indicator lights on clocks/radios/etc when trying to sleep.
Using relaxation techniques when you lie down; even if you don't actually sleep, this does help rest the body.
Use a white noise generator, such as a small fan, to cover over intermittent sounds which otherwise might wake you.
Being as consistent as possible with times going to sleep and waking even on days off.
