Mid day bounce?

Yup ... starting. She's a volatile girl. Be patient and cultivate acceptance. We always hope the bouncing will lessen over time - sometimes yes, sometimes no. Teasel's in that "no" category but a little better on Lantus.

Question ....Just thinking about a bounce in general. Although not good isn’t a bounce a sign that the pancreas is actually working? I assume a bounce indicates the pancreas released glucagon in response to a perceived too low BG level?

Great question! Both insulin and glucagon are produced by the pancreas but by different types of cells. It seems that the cells producing insulin can be impaired (diabetes) while the others producing glucagon still work. My guess - I'd have to research this more. Like anything to do with the endocrine system and hormones it's extremely complex. o_O

Don't let the bouncing get you down. Some cats are just like that. We had a cat on here when I first arrived who was extremely bouncy...I can't recall exactly how long this lasted but I believe it was 2 years. Then one day she suddenly just started needing less and less...and ended up in remission! That's an unusual case for sure, but it shows that it can happen.
