Anyone have experience with micro dosing? Robin found me some links a couple days ago, but I've not been very successful playing with an old needle. I can't seem to get consisrent drops to come out. I'm afraid I'm gonna need it soon-Cass seems to like .1u, and he was only on .2u less than 2 weeks.

Any tips or tricks?

The part I can't get, Lisa, is that if he is only going to get .3 units total a day, what would happen if you didn't give insulin at all for a trial period? Your kitty is so unusual. Normally mini dosing is connected with declining numbers.

I don't post often on your threads because I truly can't figure out what is going on with him. But a few cycles with no insulin might be worth an experiment?

Actually we're bid so he's getting .2/day.

I kinda thought his numbers.would improve before his dose got this low, too. But he's gtting goid drops and ocasionally seeing blue. Each reduction has been because of an obvious patternog inverse curves.

I don't think anyone has figured my boy out. I'll do a curve at .1 tomorrow (plans today) and we.ll see. I'd rather not skip insulin during.the week and I go back to work Mon. Honestly, I'm afraid of ketones but there hasn't been any evidence since.August (I check at least once/week)

Just want to through something out there...
sometimes what might look like an inverse curve could possibly be not enough insulin....
I know there were plenty of times in the fist few months I thought Shakes was getting too much inculin
cause It looked like an inverse curve, but it was actually that he was not getting enough
and the food was bringing him up during the day and then he would go down by preshot
because he hadnt eaten in hours....

Micro dosing - one of the links I put up were from Sheila. She posts in Lev as Sheila Beau & Jeddie (I think, something like that) maybe if you post Micro dosing questions there she can help guide you through it.

I have also wondered if trying an OTJ trial was in order because of the small doses.

Hi Lisa
I often dont comment on your dose advice as the TID has always kinda confused me
BUt I want to comment on your BID.
I dont understand your SS
You are reducing his dose but you are not seeing any blues...
now this is only my advice..but I am thinking you should try the .2 evening and night
and get some mid cycle numbers...It looks like you are afraid to shoot into the low to mid 200's..
Is that correct...cause I dont understand the SS...

He's always bounced on mid 200 ps's but the reduction was due to a couple inverse curves. He had a couple blues mid-cycle right before I reduced, but then he had 2 inverse cycles. I'm not afraid to shoot into mid 200's, just reacting to what I see (and listening to advice).

The ss isn't completely up to date.because.the only internet I have until I go back to work mon is on my phone. Running a cycle on .1 today; after that I'm willing to go up or down.

Most people don't try it unless the kitty is close to being OTJ. But, the same theory would hold. If you gave him no insulin say for a day, and his numbers didn't really change much, just stayed in the blues and yellows, that would tell us "something". It would indicate that his pancreas is doing at least some of its job. Not sure what other conclusions we would reach.
