Hi group. I'm Michelle McGeever. I'm from Painesville Ohio. My 12 year old cat Calvin was just diagnosed with diabetes back in September, so I'm kind of new to having a cat with diabetes and this site. He gets 2 shots a day and is at 3 units of PZI U-100 insulin. He seems to be doing fine on it and the last time I got his blood sugar checked, it was at 115, which is normal. (The range is from 80-150). Since he's been on insulin, he eats a lot more. Is this normal? He gets his Meow Mix Tender centers dry food everyday and gets canned cat food once a week (Sundays) and holidays for a special treat. I also reward him a small cat treat (Temptations cat treats) after he gets his shots. Is there a certain kind of food I should feed him or should I stay on his regular food that I normally feed him? He does have an auto-feeder and gets access to food whenever he wants. Should I cut his food intake or keep it the way it is?
