Meter attached to my car

Hello, I am back. I recently inherited my mom’s diabetic cat. He is 13, been diabetic for 4 years. I got him to the vet last week and his glucose was 258 after his shot. He is getting .2 cc 2x a day. Still drinking water like mad so I know he’s not regulated. I successfully tested my last cat daily, did curves, etc. My new charge Milo is not having it. He’s good about his shots, but won’t let me test him. The vet said they have a wearable meter? Does anyone have experience with this? We can’t get him regulated without numbers and curves. I know that. Mom fed him dry food only. I’ve made diet changes (no more kibble, high protein) I want to do my best to help him. I’m prepared to do what it takes to make him as heathy as I can. Any tips? Thank you !
Note he is on Novulin N which is not the same insulin I used before. What are your opinions on this?

Sorry for the delayed answer. I moved your post to this forum which is a better one for getting answers.

The meter you are talking about is probably the Freestyle Libre - we do have a number of people using it. With mixed success. Some cats accept it, some take it off right away. A onesie or harness might help keep it in place. They are supposed to last 2 weeks before needing to be replaced. There is a FB group for Libre for pets that can help you with technical details. Some more information here:

As for Novolin, no, it is not one of the recommended insulins for cats. It doesn't last long enough. Lantus or Prozinc are the two most popular ones.

He is getting .2 cc 2x a day.
Are you really giving 0.2cc of Novolin N insulin? That would be 20 units since N is 100 units per ml (cc).
How is he resisting ear testing? YOu kay have to gradually work into it by positing him like for testing and then play with his ears to get him accustomed to the testing. I adopted another diabetic cat about a month ago. He was very resistant at first but now testing his right ear is very doable but sometimes not his left ear. But that ear testing is getting better. The Libr, especially the Libre 3, is good for trends but can be off, usually lower@low BG and higher@high BGs than an ear stick. Sometimes newly diagnosed diabetic fats are too skinny to find an acceptable location for the Libre.
