Lev acts much more like an in and out insulin in Teasel and I can work with that.
I must disagree vehemently with your statement that this is a myth. I was stating what I see in my cat. I can tell you that:@LuanneP
I was reading back through Merry’s condos and I saw this statement by a member:
I’ve seen this in other condos and I want to dispel this “myth” that Levemir acts like an in and out insulin. In fact, it can have a longer duration than Lantus. If it is acting like an “in and out” insulin, then the CG doesn’t understand how the insulin works.
An example, too, of how it might seem that way is if the CG is feeding the curve with too high carb food. That can decrease the duration of the insulin; it’s not the insulin that doesn’t have the duration....instead, it is the influence of the food on the insulin and that can happen with any insulin. In addition, absorption can influence duration. If the shooting technique is not correct (I’ve seen some CGs shoot way too shallow and when they modified the shooting technique, absorption increased), if the CG is shooting in an area that has thicker skin, or any of the other multitude of things that can cause absorption are in play, duration can be decreased.
This, I agree with, especially if the phrase "or are affected by an individual cat's distinctive physiology" is added. ECID.or any of the other multitude of things that can cause absorption are in play, duration can be decreased.
@Kris & TeaselMarje, may I please know why a statement that I made about my impression of how Lev works in my cat is being brought up out of context on a thread posted by a Lantus user? It doesn't seem relevant to the discussion on this thread.
I truly value your expertise, the helpful responses you write and the kindness you extend in setting up spreadsheets and so on, Marje. However, this feels to me (perhaps incorrectly) that comments I've made on the L forum are now being examined under the microscope for accuracy or value or appropriateness after the heated discussion that ensued last night after I commented on the tone of some of the posts I've read on this forum. I hope it hasn't come to this.
I try hard to write thoughtful responses on all the forums where I choose to comment. I'm sure that I've made mistakes in what I've said occasionally - as we all have. I'm sure I've been misunderstood as well. However, I don't think an observation that I've made about what I see in my cat's responses can be called a "myth". I see what I see.
You might be seeing a little New Dose Wonkiness tonight. Paws crossed he heads back down tomorrow.
