is that a universal sign for something?

Mr b has started doing that off and on lately. The water bowl has water in it, but he'll do a plaintive meow sometimes while resting there.

Hi Jen,

Have a look at the section on howling in the symptom checker at the following link:

Tanya's Site - Symptom and Treatment Index

How's MisterBee's kidney function. When I glanced at the symptom index above the first thing that drew my eye was hovering around water bowl pointing to possible excess stomach acid.

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks! The jury is still out on kidneys. BUN is up but that might be resulting from raw diet. Creatinine is normal.. SDMA is above normal but vet says that in itself is no guarantee of kidney disease, though another vet in the same practice told me it is. Ho hum. Brought urine sample in to test for protein. Will get result tomorrow.

Hi Jen, check my post and the replies "Invisible water / cat splashes at the water" in 'Feline Health - (The Main Forum)' started by Nigel&Noah, Yesterday at 3:58 PM We've had two diabetic cats and a third, all brothers and all three had cardiomyopathy. None meowed but they clearly had issues with water. Do you have a dog in the house? Some cats don't like sharing a water bowl that a dog has been at. Our water quality is sometimes bad, either smells like bleach or chlorine. Maybe he smells something you don't.
